Research is a necessity for wizards. Before you can enchant blessed, abundance, might, or magic items, and before you can craft your insight 41 clothing, you must gain a good deal of knowledge, attain an amount proficiency in alchemy, sorcery, and enchantment, and you must have achieved sufficient insight. It's time to set the books aside, and gain some practical, hands-on experience. You must conduct research! |
Research can be performed at Dar's establishment in Mileth. The dark wizard has a suitably outfitted alchemy lab, various magic inks and quills, and a wide range of material components needed for your research. To begin, step between the two tables at the center of the room to gain access to the equipment. You'll have the choice to study alchemical concoctions, arcane sorceries, or magical enchantments. Sorcery is the easiest, in my opinion, for Dar provides parchment, which is needed to write upon. |
Sorcery: Sorcery is the harnessing, and manipulation of raw, magickal powers through the use of arcane wordings, and mystical runes. Though this process, one can create arcane scrolls of teleportation. These wonderful little items are used to bend time and space, to create a rift which envelopes the reader of the scroll, and deposit them at the written destination on the scroll. |
To create a scroll, one needs only a piece of parchment, a dab or two of Dar's magic inks, a quill, and knowledge of the proper runes and arcane words of power. Dar will gladly share this information with you, provided you will part with a few coin to purchase some of his parchment. *Grin* |
Alchemy: Alchemy is the chemical process of transmutation. Through this process, Beothaich Deums, and the reactive components of spoke sphere's can be created. |
To create a Beothaich deum(faerie liquor/revival potion), one needs the chemical reactants found in Dar's laboratory, and the venom of a viper. To acquire the venom of a viper, one must first obtain the gland of a viper. One must then extract the venom thought the use of one of Dar's many alchemical tools, into a large beaker. You only need a small amount of chemical reactant to transmute the viper's venom into a Beothaich deum. This is not true faerie liquor, but is almost chemically indistinguishable to it. The active, magical properties are identical, and the results upon consumption of this concoction are the same. |
To create smoke sphere's one needs blue powder. This can be obtained from Cian, who's place of business is found next to Dar's respectable establishment. However, it is very unlikely that he will have any readily available. So, you must procure the ingredients for its concoction for him. Either a spider's eye, a mantis's eye, wolf's teeth, bat's wing, or the skull of either a goblin, or a kobold will suffice. Bring these items to Cian, and he will manufacture some blue powder for you. |
Among the chemical reactants found in Dar's lab, there is an unstable chemical reactant, which is to be used. This chemical is extremely dangerous to handle, and has been the death of more than a few careless wizard. However, this chemical becomes stable once it in combined with the blue powder. The resulting compound is a stable, low yield explosive which produces a great deal of noxious, blinding smoke. |
Enchantment: The art of enchantment is used to instill magickal energies into a mundane item. To research enchantment, you need a mundane item, that is in good repair. Dar has a number of magickal components, which are used in conjunction with arcane incantations to imbue an item with magical properties. Dar provides a scroll describing the spell used to enchant, as well as the incantations themselves upon request. |
In addition, enchantment can be used to craft earrings with inherent magickal properties. The moulds upon the table, despite popular opinion, are not needed. Simply uttering the proper arcane incantations are sufficient to cause the alteration of gold coin into wearable gold, or silver earrings. The same is true for the creation of coral, beryl, or ruby earrings. This process is very much the same as the process used for crafting a Lorum or a Stoller. |
~Blessed Enchantment~ |
Blessed enchantments improved your hand-eye coordination. Thus raising your accuracy with a wielded weapon. These items can be crafted at Egil's establishment, in Abel. To imbue a blessed item, you need to be of the 20th insight, have an assistant, and a rogue along with you, to draw from his blessed essence. And of course, you need an item that can be enchanted. These items include earrings, shields, bracers, gauntlets, greaves, most boots, and some rings. Additionally, you'll need a bit of wolf's fur. |
~Abundance Enchantment~ |
Abundance enchantments improve the damage that you are capable of doing with a weapon. I believe, you must be of the 28th insight, and have a monk accompanying you. Abundance crafts are to be made in Undine, at the establishment of the dark wizard, Kiril. In addition, you will need the sting of a scorpion to imbue an enchantable item with the essence of abundance. |
~Might Enchantment~ |
Might enchantments, in my opinion, are rather useless. However, I will covey the knowledge of crafting might enchantments as well. These vitality giving(+100hp) enchantments can be craftes at Appie's, the alchemist in Piet. It is required that you be of the 35th insight, and that you bring an assistant, and a warrior from which you will draw the essence of might. The material requirements for might enchantments, are of course, the item to be enchanted, and the wing of a bat. |
~Magic Enchantment~ |
Magic enchantments. The most precious, and most potent of all. Items enchanted with unadulterated magic, are wondrously light, and significantly reduce the amount of will using such an item saps from an aisling. In some cases, a magic item actually increases the will of the one who wears it. Thus, giving a wizard, or a priest the chance to grain a little added protection, without suffering an excessive draw upon his will. |
To enchant a magical item, you must be of the 60th insight, or above. You are required to bring an assistant, as well as a priest to draw the purest magic from. Additionally, a finished ruby of the highest quality is required. This ruby, containing the concentrated magic, will be enbedded, or sewn into an item, which will then draw magickal essence from the ruby. |
