~The Dark Art~

Within the Sgath pit's, along the north/eastern wall, lay the entrance into Gigean's domain, the temple of Necromancy. The light from but two small torches grace this dark abode. Its walls are adorned with gruesome, bone sculptures. As if the horrific arts of necromancy, the communion and summoning of the dead, were not enough to frighten any sane man half to death, these frightening depictions, of creatures most foul, are enough in and of themselves to chill one's very soul to its core.

Gigean, the 'proprietor' of this unholy ground, holds the secrets of this forbidden, dark art. What manner of creature this keeper of sinister secrets is, I care not to know, and loath am I to share with you the secrets of this illicit knowledge, but I feel it is a must. I, with the knowledge I possess, and convictions, which Luathas has placed within my heart, feel it is my obligation to make every attempt to dissuade you from making the choice to walk the path of the dead.

From you, Gigiean requires that you have great intelligence(25), and wisdom enough(15) to 'control' the powers of necromancy. If you meet the these requirements, this unclean creature demands you bring him the flesh of a zombie, which you have slain yourself. Zombies can be found in the yards outside the House Macabre. Once you have delivered the fetid, decaying flesh of the undead to him, he will initiate you into the ranks of necromancy. ((You will gain the legened mark: "Walks the path of Necromancy since Deoch (X)."))

There is but one spell at this time that a necromancer can learn. That spell is Spion Torradh. Spion Torradh is used to summon forth the undead, to do the bidding of the caster. Gigean requires nothing from you to learn this spell, save that you walk the path of necromancy.

There are various material requirements to summon the undead with Spion Torradh. Additionally, there is an insight requirement to be able to use these materials, and to summon differing types of undead.

Item Insight Creature
Ghast skull 25 Skeletal warrior
Gargoyle skull 50 Greater skeletal warrior
Gog's maw 75 Armored skeletal warrior
Gargoyle fiend skull 80 Greater amrored skeletal warrior
Gremlin's ear 99 Death Knight

Now, these material's are quite hard to find, but that is little obstacle. Hadrian, the dark wizard of Soumi, will be more than happy to assist you in constructing a usable substitute. Simply mentioning 'necromancy' or that you are a 'necromancer' to him, with quickly garner his attention.

To make an item, Hadrian requires certain items from you top construct a suitable proxy. To construct a forged skull, Hadrian requires a kobold's skull, two branches, and a wolf's skin. To construct a substitute gremlins ear, he requires two spider's legs, and a piece of zombie's flesh.

I warn you, using imitations presents risks. There is a fifty percent chance the spell will fail, consuming the item, but producing no results. There is a very small chance you could be permanently, physically harmed as well. ((Loss of 1 point from str, con, or dex))

~Knowledge Forbidden~

Many of the gods forbid their worshippers from dabbling with necromancy. Luathas is one of these gods, Glioca, Gramail, and Cail also forbid this knowledge. I, as a priest, will not initiate anyone into the fellowship, who has taken up the path of necromancy. Nor will I reinitiate anyone who has forsaken Luathas to walk to the path of the dead. Doing an end-run around me, in this situation will most likely result in your excommunication. To become a necromancer, you must forsake. If that is your choice, it is a permanent one. I will not abide the blatant disrespect towards Luathas that this represents.

You've been warned of the physical dangers, and you have been warned of the religious consequences that present themselves when you choose this path. Choose wisely.
